The adaptation of codes and regulations to support non-institutional, person-centered environments removes a significant barrier to improving residential long-term health, care, and support settings. Jane Rohde as one of the editors, content coordinators, and one of the tri-chairs for the 2014, 2018, and 2022 revision cycles for the published Guidelines for Design and Construction of Residential Health, Care, and Support Facilities has supported the mission of removing barriers to promote and obtain person-centered care as a professional and personal philosophy aligning with the Facility Guidelines Institute’s goals.
The 2014 groundbreaking document includes guidance on not only traditional models, but provides guidance for designers, regulators, and providers for creating sustainable, person-centered environments; such as household care models. Each subsequent edition includes The Guidelines for Design and Construction of Residential Health, Care, and Support Facilities is one of three books published by the Facility Guidelines Institute. Guidelines for Design and Construction of Hospitals and Guidelines for Design and Construction of Outpatient Facilities are the additional publications.
